Hi 👋 I'm Maarten!
As a psychologist turned AI engineer, I'm interested in making AI accessible through highly visual guides.
By taking a rather unorthodox path towards AI engineering, I have been fortunate to have explored and experienced interesting opportunities. From open-sourcing popular packages and collaborating with big-tech, to creating a newsletter and writing an O'Reilly book.
The best path taken might be the one never traveled before.
Things to note
- author of the Hands-On Large Language Models book
Amazon #1 bestseller in Data Modeling - creator of popular open-source packages, like BERTopic, PolyFuzz, and KeyBERT
> 8.000.000 downloads - author of the Exploring Language Models newsletter
> 2.000.000 views - created the 9 distance measures visualization that often goes viral 1, 2, 3, 4, 5, 6, 7, 8
- graduated with three MSc degrees cum laude
Organizational Psychology | Clinical Psychology | Data Science & Entrepreneurship - written academic articles about my open-source work
> 2.000 citations - love playing board games (currently The Quacks of Quedlinburg: The Duel)
Here are a couple of visual guides that I am particularly proud of:
